
So I got a MacBook Pro and to get everything up to speed I needed to compile my old Maya plug-ins to Maya 8.5 for OS X. I couldn't find a template for Xcode for maya 8.5 but I found a 8.0 template by Thomas Craigen on highend3d.com. So i modified it for Maya 8.5 and now everything compiles just perfect. Yet another release of the best CAM out there (IMHO), the second AutoDesk release of Maya is out for premium members download and AutoDesk Store. I don't see any MAJOR changes but a lot of new features has been added - like Python integration and UB for Mac.

Here is a tutorial on how to install AutoDesk Maya 8 under Kubuntu linux. You need to convert the Installation files from RPMs to DEBs. As far as I know there are no support from AutoDesk if you use your license on Kubuntu, but I don't think it conflicts with the EULA.
